Last Game is the fifth chapter of the eleventh volume and the overall fifty-sixth and final chapter of theLast Game manga.

Summary

The Astronomy Club members; Shiori Fujimoto, Miyabe, Yoshida, Senpai, Kei Souma and Momoka Tachibana meet each other after a long time at their friends', Mikoto and Naoto Yanagi, wedding. Both Naoto and Mikoto never thought this day would come when they they first met each other. They exchange rings, share their wedding kiss and Naoto proposes the idea of a new game; Mikoto has to stay with him forever if he is able to make her the happiest she's been in her life now when they're married. As so, they'll continue their life long game together.

Plot

Kei is greeted by Shiori, Yoshida, Miyabe and Senpai at Mikoto and Naoto's wedding, and everyone is happy to see each other after a long time. Fujimoto and Miyabe explain that haven't gotten married due to their tight income at the moment. Yoshida and Senpai have normal jobs and live together, though they still don't have a girlfriend. Souma tells Fujimoto that he hasn't been able to find himself a girlfriend either, because the girls he dated always thinks he's scamming them since he is the oldest son of a farmer. Momoka soon arrives and tells him it's because he always gets involved with the wrong types. They then quickly begin to quarrel and complain about each other; Momoka finds it annoying how Kei calls her crying every time he breaks up with a girl, and Kei is well-aware of the fact that Momoka has a bad drinking habit and always cries about wanting to get married at the end of every single mixer. Shiori suggests for the two of them to start dating, but they refuse instantly. Naoto arrives and seems to be a bit annoyed at their behavior during his wedding. His friends congratulates him, but worries if the Yanagi Resort would truly be okay with Naoto succeeded it, since he had just got kicked out of Mikoto's waiting room by his father.

When Mikoto is done, Naoto insists to be the first one to see her. Upon seeing her, he is amazed by her beauty and slams the door shut; worrying whether it is a dream or not. But he is later convinced to enter the room again as everyone wants to see Mikoto. He starts crying when he sees her, but both Mikoto and rest of their families has gotten tired of that reaction. The Astronomy Club congratulate Mikoto and Kei takes a picture of her as the photographer for the wedding. When Shiori asks Mikoto how the proposal went, both Naoto and Mikoto tells them they can't say anything about it. Naoto proceeds to complain about how he had to coordinate the whole wedding ceremony due to Mikoto being indifferent about it, but Mikoto interrupts him by asking how she looks. Although he replies with that she doesn't look too bad, Mikoto isn't satisfied with that answer, and Naoto ends up telling her that this is the prettiest he has ever seen her. Mikoto casually tells Naoto he looks handsome in return.

When it is just the two of them, Mikoto pinches Naoto's cheek at his own request to make sure he isn't dreaming. He tells Mikoto that she would be his wife from this day on that her new name would be "Mikoto Yanagi". She then requests Naoto to call her by her first name and vice-versa, but both of them think it is pretty hard, since they are used to calling each other by their last names. However, Mikoto says that they will get used to them eventually, since they would be calling each other by their given names as they were married now.

The ceremony then begins. Miwa walks Mikoto down the aisle and congratulates her with a tearful smile. They then make their way to Naoto, who once again cried upon seeing Mikoto. They recite their wedding vows and promise to always be there for each other, in sickness and in health. Naoto smiles when they exchange rings, since he had won the "last game and finally got to marry the girl he has loved and chased for so many years. After having their wedding kiss, Naoto hugs his newly-wed wife while exclaiming that it was "game over".

They make their way out with all the guest, their friends, and family watching over them. Kei tells Mikoto to smile for a picture and she gives him a big smile, which surprises him. He then asks Momoka if she isn't happy to see the person they once liked being showered with happiness like, but she sobbingly replies that she only wanted to get married as soon as possible. Before taking a commemorative photo, Naoto proposes the idea of yet another game to Mikoto. He says that now that they are married, it would be his win if he could make her the happiest she's ever been in her life. Mikoto is a bit confused about this but asks what would happen if Naoto won. He replies that she would have to stay by his side forever.

Trivia

• The panels where Yanagi proposes the idea of yet another to Mikoto in this chapter are almost identical to those seen in the third chapter where Yanagi proposed the "Last Game".
• Several elementary school classmates of Yanagi's and Mikoto's were seen attending the wedding.
• Souma theorizes that Yanagi's proposal to Mikoto was just like the time he confessed to her, planning something like a surprise or something similar, only to have Mikoto say it first.
• According to Yanagi, it was his idea of a wedding ceremony and when he asked Mikoto about it, her only words were "I don't mind". So Yanagi was the one coordinating everything.
  • Yanagi thinks that marriage didn't even cross Mikoto's mind, as when he displayed a popular wedding magazine, she treated it as a decoration.
  • Despite complaining about having to coordinate everything, this chapter reveals that Yanagi is actually into stuff as coordinating weddings and such. He also wanted to pick a wedding dress for Mikoto, but Fujimoto easily took that away from Yanagi, much to his dismay.
• Mikoto says she actually didn't mind keeping her original surname but Yanagi didn't want that no matter what.
• The picture Yanagi's father took on Yanagi picking up Mikoto in the air at the airport was displayed at the wedding.
• Souma was the photographer for this wedding.
